FINALLY!!

I know, I know, it has been a very long time since I have posted, well actually "posted" pictures. What can I say.....Christmas, family, and yes......Facebook.....but I think that I have gotten to the point to where I can manage both of them. Santa Claus came to our house!!!

The Monday before Christmas, Dustin's office was having Santa Claus come for all of the employees children to have pictures with. We were so excited that Bryson was going to get his picture taken with Santa for his 1st Christmas. Unfortunately, there was a bad snow storm and the roads were horrible and we didn't get Bryson to Dustin's office. We were both pretty bummed that Bryson didn't get to sit on Santa's knee. But to our surprise, Nick, Dustin's brother arranged a relative, to dress up as Santa and come to our house to meet Bryson. It was so wonderful. We got a family picture with Santa, that we wouldn't have gotten at Dustin's office. So we want to thank Uncle "Nitz" for a wonderful Christmas memory.....you truly made our son's first Christmas very memorable.

I'm a Blog Slacker!

I just wanted to apologize for not posting anything lately. I have been super busy........plus my sister has gotten me stuck on the whole Facebook thing. But I PROMISE that I will post again soon. I hope everyone is having fun with the whole Christmas shopping thing, if you are anything like me, you don't have it all done yet, but thankfully, there is still one more weekend before Christmas, so Happy Shopping everyone!!

Just Random Pics

I just had to post these pictures, cause (1) I think they are cute and (2) there are cute stories behind 2 of them. I just think my son is the cutest thing ever.......lately, he has been eating every 2 hours (I think he is having a growth spurt) and he doesn't sleep much during the day. Here, he finally fell asleep after "talking" to us for about an hour. He LOVES to lay on his back and talk and talk and talk and I LOVE to listen to him.

This was Friday night.....I was still exhausted from Thursday nights all nighter with the girls and he would not go to sleep.....he would just cry every time we would put him down. Finally, Dustin laid him on the kitchen counter and he stopped crying and started jabbering away. After a few minutes his eyes became heavy and this is where he fell asleep......it was an odd place to wake up and find my son sleeping with Dustin, Nick and Deanne talking around him. It was cute. Hey, whatever it takes to get him to sleep, right!!

This was last night. Nick recently got a boxer puppy. His name is Jager (pronounced "Yager", but that is how Nick spells it). The first couple of times the two dogs were around each other, Jager wasn't sure of Brogan.....I think he was scared and still not sure of his surroundings. But after a few play dates, they have become good friends. Whenever they are around each other.....they play so hard. They run around the coffee table, down the hallway, around the kitchen table, out the doggy door, outside, and back in the house. Jager is still small so he can go under the coffee table and taunt Brogan......he just doesn't play fair!! But I have to hand it to Jager, he is pretty smart! They will do this routine the entire time Nick is at our house. But last night, to our surprise, we found the two dogs passed out on the kitchen floor, so Dustin had to get a picture of it, cause chances are it won't happen again anytime soon!!

Twilight Midnight Premiere/Girls Night Out

The Twilight Premiere was here at last!! I have been so excited for this night! The weather was nice all day long, so we didn't think the wait outside would be to horribly bad, and it wasn't.....just a bit windy towards the end of our wait. I was smart and had Dustin meet me at the theater around 6:45 and we dropped off my car so that we wouldn't have to park clear out by Hillcrest. Then my niece, Brittany, and I decided to make a drive by around 7:45 to see how the line was outside the theater. At that time, the line was going from the doors, along the front and down around the side of the building......we then met up with Brittany's friend who told us that she heard that they were letting certain theaters in at certain times. So I went to ask and the rumor was confirmed. Ours was being let in at around 9:50, so we left and went to my house to pick up my friend and neighbor, Crystal, who agreed to go last minute......I didn't have to twist her arm that much though!! We had my nephew, Brookx and his girlfriend, Lindsey drop us off at about 8:30---we stood in line for little over an hour and then got our seats.....GREAT seats might I add, thanks to Britt and Crystal running into the theater to get them.....smack dab in the center! Then the wait really began. To keep everyone occupied, some people got together and played Twilight Charades with scenes from the movie and the books. We just watched, but it entertained us!! The movie was supposed to start at 12:00, but because of "technical difficulties" it didn't start til 12:30. It was a pretty good movie, I thought, but I am a die hard Twilight fan. We got home at about 3:00 AM and I went to work at 7:30......long night, but well worth it!!

Bryson's Blessing

Last Sunday, November 16th, we blessed our sweet, little Bryson. It was a wonderful day, and he was oh so very cute in his little, white suit. We blessed him in our home since the Dr. didn't want us taking him to church until at least the middle of December. Bryson was full of it that day.....literally! This is how the afternoon went just before the blessing: We planned on bathing him before the blessing, after we fed him. So, I was getting him undressed, I should had known what to expect when I changed his diaper because he had been grunting and acting like he was trying to push a bus out, and holy cow....he pooped a lot. Well, before I could get his bum clean, he decided to go a little bit more, so that clean diaper was now soiled. So, I got another one out. After I cleaned him up for the second time I started doing up his diaper and he grunted and pushed......SERIOUSLY, I thought to myself......and yes, you guessed it, yet another diaper was soiled! Finally, he was done, so I got him in the bath and got him smelling good again. By the time bath time was over, people started showing up at our door. We had finished his bath in time!! Well, then he decided to get fussy......Great!! I didn't want him to fuss during the blessing, so we got him a bottle and then he fell asleep......he didn't make a peep during the blessing, Brogan on the other hand, who was locked outside, had a lot to say!! Dustin did a wonderful job on the blessing. We had our friends and family there for Bryson's big day.......it was a wonderful day and experience and we are truly blessed to have Bryson in our lives. Thanks to everyone that came and helped out with the luncheon and blessing. We have great friends and family and want you all to know how much we love you!!

OUCH....My baby got his shots!

Last Tuesday was Bryson's 2 month check up and shots. He weighs 7 lbs 6.5 oz and is 20 in long. I think he is so big! However, others might think he is still pretty small. But compared to what he was when he was born.....he is big! He did really well with his shots.....alot better than how I thought he was going to. Dustin held on to his arms and the nurse held down his legs and I was the one he was looking at.......later I found out the reason why Dustin wanted to hold on to his arms......that way, it was MY face he was looking at when he got his shots.....so he would be upset with me......I have to admit, that was clever on Dustin's part, but Bryson soon forgot and loves me even though he was shot twice in one leg and three times in the other. He cried hard for a few seconds, but as soon as the nurse let go of his legs.....the screaming and tears immediately stopped. I was amazed at how well he did....my little trooper, such a big boy! We gave him Tylenol and I didn't notice a fever or anything, so he handled his first round of shots VERY VERY well and the rest of the day he was showing off his Taz band aids......so cute! So, we are done for another 2 months, then we will play that game again. Gee, I can hardly wait.....ha ha ha.

I couldn't really find a costume for Bryson to wear this Halloween because he is still so small, even the smallest costumes out there wouldn't fit him.....so Miranda Johnson gave me the idea of making him a mummy costume. She made one for her son last year. I am not as crafty as her, but I decided to give it a whirl. This is what I came up with. I think it turned out pretty cute. I felt bad for the kid cause when he had the mummy costume on, he couldn't really bend his arms, so in a way, he really was a mummy. Ha Ha. I hope you all had a Happy Halloween! "GET ME OUT OF THIS THING....SERIOUSLY, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING TO ME!"

So, I haven't really posted anything the last few weeks, cause I suck. But here are a few pictures of what we've been doing lately......focusing on Bryson. He is the light of our lives. He is growing so fast....well at least Dustin and I think he is. When people come over, they comment on how little he still is. But Dustin and I think he is so big compared to what he was when he was born. We aren't sure exactly how much he weighs, but we will find our his length and weight next Thursday when we go in for his 2 month check up and the oh so dreaded shots! Yeah, so excited for those, let me tell ya! He is about the size of a full term newborn......maybe between 6 1/2 and 7 pounds.....not quite seven and last we measured (about 2 weeks ago), 19 inches long.....Any guesses on how much he weighs you guys.....leave me a comment and we will let you know next week! Bryson has the funniest facial expressions, even when he is asleep!

Bryson Meets Great-Grandpa Luthi

The Friday after my Grandma's funeral, my Aunt Tami, Aunt Dixie and Uncle Sherm brought my Grandpa down for a Dr.'s appointment. I was very excited to find out that they would be stopping by my house to meet my little boy. Sadly, Grandma would not be there to meet him. When they got to my house, my Aunt Tami didn't want to hold Bryson because he was too small and he intimidated her and my Aunt Dixie didn't hold him because she was starting to get a cold and didn't want to get him sick. So, the men......yes that's right, the men of the family were the only ones that held him that day. My Grandpa said to my aunts......"Well if you won't hold him, I will...." that was pretty awesome. I took so many pictures of Grandpa holding him....primarily because we didn't have Grandma there, so I was not going to let that moment get away without any pictures. Bryson stared at Grandpa for a while and went right to sleep. I know that my Grandma was probably right there beside my Grandpa at that very moment.......I wish she could have been there in person though. My baby Bryson LOVES Grandpa Luthi.....but how could he not love him.......and Grandpa loves Bryson. It was a good afternoon!

Bryson's First Pictures

So, we had the opportunity to have Miranda Johnson take Bryson's first pictures. You can check out her website, just click on Sweetpea Photography on my friends link. She was so incredible!! I highly recommend her to anyone! She did a wonderful job---and was so patient with our squirmy little man. She got some amazing shots of him, even towards the end, when I thought for sure she wouldn't be able to because Bryson was getting tired of us posing him and taking his pictures. But I wanted to share some of those pictures with you. He is our pride and joy and think that he is the cutest little thing ever!! Just hanging out!

Twilight........Again!!

That's right.......I have read the series once already, but wanted to read them for a second time before the movie came out. So 2 days ago.....I started them. It is AMAZING. I can't put them down, although I know what is going to happen......I still feel so intrigued and can't read fast enough. Dustin came home the other night and his exact words were....."Oh No! Do I have to go through that again!" I felt bad........but just for a minute because he got a new XBox game for his birthday and he plays that non-stop, when Bryson is sleeping.

Hubby Tag!!

Well, I am taking this idea from my friend Amy Barlow. She did this on her blog about her husband to let everyone get to know her husband a little better and I thought it was pretty cool, so I thought I would do it as well......so here it goes.

1. Where did you meet?
We met at Slusser Wholesale. It's kind of a funny story though. My friend Jaxi and I had gone to Smitty's for breakfast before work one morning and the guy getting our drinks we both thought was very hot. We went to work and began telling our friend and co-worker about him. She said that her nephew worked there and as we described him, she was sure it was him. A few weeks later, Dustin started working at Slusser. Come to find out, the guy at Smitty's was Dustin's older brother Nick, but Dustin was working at Smitty's also, before he started at Slusser. Dustin and I quickly became friends and started hanging out with other people from work.

2.How long did you date before you were married?
We started dating in October 2001 and married in April 2005, so we dated for about 4 years.

3. How long have been married?
For about 3 1/2 wonderful---enjoyable years.

4. What does he do that surprises you?
He surprises me everyday with how great of a father he is to our son. I always knew that he would be a good dad....but he continues to amaze me how much he shows his love and excitement for Bryson. And also the love he shows for his family and those around him.

5. What is your favorite feature of his?
I LOVE his legs......primarily his calve muscles. He played soccer in high school, and they are so muscular and amazing, I could just stare at them all day long......I love summer, cause he wears shorts!! I also like his cute bum!

6. What is your favorite quality of his?
He always tries to see the "other side" in a situation. For instance, if I feel like I have been wronged by someone, he always helps me, or tries to I should say, see the other person's point of view before I judge or get upset. Sometimes I can see it, but most of the time, because I am so stubborn, I just wanna be mad at that person and just dislike them at that moment, because we all know that I am always right!! Ha Ha. So, he is hardly mad at anyone because he makes it a point to see everyones side.

7.Does he have a nickname for you?
I think he just calls me babe.

8. What is his favorite color?
Burgundy or any red for that matter.

9. What is his favorite food?
He likes my Poppy Seed Chicken, but he also really likes Steak.....who doesn't?!

10. What is his favorite sport?
Soccer (to play) and Football (if watching on TV). He also likes to play XBox with the boys....is that considered a sport??

11. When and were was your first kiss?
Halloween 2001, at our friend Josh's house.

12. Favorite thing to do as a couple?
We like to play games with our friends and just being together at home.

13.Do you have any children?
We recently had our first baby.....a son, Bryson.

14.Does he have a hidden talent?
Since we had Bryson, I have found out that he is a master diaper-changer, bottle feeder, and baby nail trimmer.......he never should have shown those talents, cause now he gets to help out with those things more often then he probably wants too. But I really appreciate him!! Love you babe!!

15.How old his he?
He just turned 25 on October 2. Happy Birthday babe!!

16.Who said I love you first?
I am pretty sure I did.....but it wasn't long after I did, that he finally said it back. I know I am a sucker!

17.What's his favorite type of music?
He is in this alternative kick now.

18. What do you admire most about him?
His patience with just about EVERYTHING!! And how likeable he is, he can make friends with anyone he meets. I wish that I could do that.

19.Do you think he will read this?
He will probably read this next time he has to help me on my blog with our pictures or something.

Tribute to Grandma Luthi

On Wednesday, October 1st, I received that dreaded phone call from my Aunt that my beloved Grandma had passed away. I realize that everyone has to go at sometime, but I wasn't ready for her to go.....to be honest, I would have never been ready for her to go. This is my short tribute to her and for those who didn't know her, to kind of get a slight glimpse of who she was to me and our family.
For those friends that have known me for a long time, know how much I love my Grandma and Grandpa Luthi. She was one of the most courageous, funny, stubborn, hot-headed (my dad called her "War Cloud" because she would get fired up, and you better stay out of her way), loveable women I have ever known. She would always tell you how it was, without all of that sugar coating. I would refer to her as "Shirley McClain".....you know the actress in Steel Magnolias and Guarding Tess. She was hilarious.........it was very rare that you weren't laughing when you were around my Grandma.
My sister and I would LOVE to go to Grandma's house in Star Valley.....just to kick it with her and Grandpa.........the best grandparents ever!! I will never forget the good times we had there with them......the "tea" parties with Pepsi, watching Sound of Music and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Fiddler on the Roof......in the winter, sledding down the snow hills Grandpa made with the tractor, just visiting in her front room or just listening to her play the piano and once in a while singing Hymns with her. The memories will always stay with me, as will my deep love for my Grandma. I don't know what my Grandpa will do without her, they were soul mates, and didn't go anywhere without each other. He will be lost without his Sweetheart.
To my Grandma:
I love you and will miss you more than you will ever know, Grandma. My only regret is that I didn't get to say goodbye and hug you one last time and that you didn't get to meet my baby-Bryson, but I know you will be his guardian angel from above and will watch over him through out his life. Knowing that I will be with you again someday keeps me going, without that, I would be a wreck and lost without you here. I love you and will have you with me always. Until we are together again, I love you Grandma......forever, for always and no matter what!

Update on Bryson

Well, I figured it was time to update my blog. I am sure most of you know that we were able to take Bryson home.....he's been home since Sept. 17th (so for 2 weeks). It was nice having him home and not having to go back and forth to the NICU. Although, it was very intimidating and scary having a preemie in our care.......without the help of the awesome NICU nurses.....I have to say, I miss them, I asked if I could bring them home....but that was a no go, I probably wouldn't be able to afford them.

Since we have had Bryson home, my time has been primarily spent in the house with him. We have only gone out long enough for his 2 week/NICU checkup, 2 days after we got him home, and then for his circumcision a week after that. Poor guy......he was such a trooper though. We aren't really taking him out in public for a while, per Dr.'s orders. It is hard, because I have some SEVERE cabin fever!!

The first week we had him home---was scary but fun at the same time. The nights were long (we are still working on that little hurdle right now.......can we say "sleep deprived"?? Dustin was home with me for the first week, but this week he had to go back to work, and I have to say, it has been a VERY hard week for me. Not only am I not sleeping as much at night, because Bryson screams every 2 hours (not just cry, but literally scream), but, Bryson gave us a scare yesterday, Oct. 1st. I was feeding him and he began coughing, I soon realized that he was choking on the formula and he was starting to turn blue. I immediately put him face down and started hitting his back. Thankfully Dustin was home and he came and helped me. Thankfully Bryson stopped choking and started breathing again. I have to admit that I was pretty scared for the next feeding. But I got back on that horse and have figured out a way so that he doesn't get to much and choke. We are going to the Dr. again tomorrow because I think he has acid reflux that the Dr. wants to see him. So, we shall see what he says.

I just wanted to thank everyone that brought us meals those first 2 weeks. They are greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you, my poor husband got at least one good meal a day. We are truly blessed to have such good friends and neighbors in the ward to take care of us in our time of need. Thanks again to all of you!! We love you all.

Bryson Michael Barron Arrives A Little Early

Bryson Michael Barron was born last Saturday, September 6, 2008 @ 8:25 AM. He weighed 4 lbs 12 oz and was 15 1/2 inches long. My Dr. wanted to take him early because we had been do ultra sounds the last month to check his growth and in 3 weeks he had grown roughly the amount that he should have grown in 3 days. So, the Dr. said that my placenta and the umbilical cord were giving out, he wanted to take him a month early to get him out and get nourishment to him on the outside world. That was Friday the 5th. He said that my C-section was scheduled for 8:00 the next morning and that I should be at the hospital at 6:00.......yeah, that was NO time to prepare. I have NEVER had a surgery in my life!!! It was a scary thing to hear that I was going to have my baby the next day, we had thought we had a month to get the rest of our things in order before he came, but I guess the Lord wanted him here now. He has been in NICU since he was born and hopefully can come home within the next week or so. When he was first born, he had a thing on his nose called a "B-pap" (I think) to keep a small amount of pressure on his little lungs to keep them inflated so they wouldn't collapse. He had that on until about 8:00 PM on the day he was born. So all he had hooked to him was the IV and the leads to the monitors, however, he was still in the incubator. They put the feeding tube in his nose on Monday and removed the IV, because he was still so small that he wasn't getting all of his feedings through the nipple. He was then moved out of the incubator into an open crib on Thursday afternoon. That was one of his goals to meet in order to come home (to keep his own temperature up without needing the assistance of the incubator). He since has been moved up from one room in the NICU to another room (he graduated last night, Friday, Sept. 12 to the "Penthouse" of the NICU). This is where the nurses say that the babies that are almost ready to go home go. The last goal he needs to meet is to eat all of his feedings through the nipple not the feeding tube......he has made big strides the last couple days, but still gets tired and every once in a while he needs to be fed through the tube. The other thing is he can't have another "apnea" (Sunday he stopped breathing for about 20 seconds). So far so good, he hasn't had another one, but every time he has an apnea, another 7 days automatically gets added to his stay in the NICU. So, please pray for our little man in hopes that he gets well enough to come home with us soon and stay home without getting sick and needing to go back to the NICU.
